If you are like me and love McDonald‘s Big Mac hamburger, or like to do the ‘secret’ menu and add Mac Sauce to your $1 value menu hamburger then you should know the basics on how to make this special spread for home use.
Earlier this year, McDonald’s did a fun little thing with eBay (Ended) where they sold 200 bottles (pictured) for about $18,000. Now before you start to chastise corporate America and the great Satan known as McDonald’s, they are doing this to raise money for Australia’s Ronald McDonald House Charities.
I for one do not live in Australia, nor do I have $18,000 to give to this great cause. Thus, I thought I would share a recipe that I admire from Tom Wilbur. Yes, Tom is that guy who had a television show on I think CMT!? Where he would go around the country in this made up ‘challenge’ to spoof the original recipe. It was a nice concept and it did it’s job to get my attention to his website.
Why? Why do I admire Tom Wilber? It’s an homage to my start of going out in the Restaurant Wilderness and eating some amazing food and asking myself the question: “Why can’t I do this at home”? It all started for me with the Chili’s Margarita Grilled Chicken some 18 years ago.
This recipe is really close to the original Mac Sauce. As Wilber highlights, the ketchup just doesn’t do the sauce justice. You need to use french dressing.
