Ingredients

  • 2 Tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons toasted sesame oil
  • 2 Tablespoons unseasoned rice vinegar
  • 2 Teaspoons chili paste with garlic
  • 36 Large pealed deveined shrimp (about 1 1/4 lbs)
  • 1 lime (cut into wedges, cut into 6 wedges)

Directions

Marinade
Step 1
To make the marinade place the soy, hoisin, sesame oil, rice vinegar and chili paste in a non-reactive bowl and mix until the ingredients are well combined.
Step 2
Add the shrimp to the marinade bowl and mix it until it is completely immersed in the marinade. You can transfer this mixture into a zip-type bag to marinate. Refrigerate for 2-4 hours to marinate the shrimp.
Grilling
Step 3
Prepare your grill. When your coals are glowing and red, this should be ready in about 15-20 minutes, cover with the grate. After the grill grate comes to temp after about 5 minutes, use a wire brush to thoroughly clean the grate.
Step 4
To cook, remove as much marinade as possible from the shrimp. Thread the shrimp on skewers, and place the shrimp kabobs on the grate and grill, turn once, until the shrimp and golden brown and firm, this should take about 2 minutes per side. Transfer to a serving plater and serve immediately, garnished with the limes.
