In the Layton Main Street, there existed several empty shells of 1980 restaurants. Sadly, these buildings when they sit empty fall into dis-repair. Mullboons’ was one of those. Mullboons was a quasi fine dining establishment that’s biggest claim to fame was a massive bowl of peal and eat shrimp that was drastically overpriced with mediocre entrees.

Well, after a decade Cantina came in and started renovations. We were pleased to see this. This took several months to correct the neglect, and slowly the restaurant opened to the public.

Cantina has several signature features that set this apart from the average Mexican / Southwestern location:

  • Salsa Bar with unlimited tortilla chips
  • Friendly wait staff
  • Generally quick turn around from order to service times

So, if your looking for a place that will serve you ‘Southwesternized’ Mexican food.  This is your joint.  They have many items that will keep a gringo happy.  However, this place also has some items you should try on your fist visit – especially if you would like a pop of a tasty, true dose of Mexicano flavor.
